Vice President for Public Relations

Now it's time for 80vation,

So pass the word around ....

At district level, we moved from District 51 to District 80.

At club level, we moved on from an in-house club known as Sky Media Toastmasters Club to a community club called Toa Payoh Central Community Club Toastmasters Club.

What a name!

If I were offered to suggest a name for this club, I would like to propose naming the club Tipicity, TPCT for Toa Payoh Central or Toa Payoh Central Toastmasters.

But whatever the name, its time for action, it's time for 80-vation.

Suddenly Homeless

Two months into the new term, and suddenly we're homeless. Our Company Sky Media Pte Ltd was expanding so rapidly in China that to concentrate on the business up north, they had to leave the local operation to a local franchisee.

So we either have to look for a new premises for the club or to join another club.

After two months of running around, we finally found an organisation that's willing to house us. It seems very easy and natural for all of us to move from Newton to Toa Payoh, because only a handful were instrumental in securing this premises. ( See A New Chapter and Toastmasters as Emcees )

For those of us who were not involved in the above action, let's treasure this home a little more, and get more into action. It's now time for 80-vation.

We wish Sky Media Pte Ltd ALL THE BEST.

Newsletter - Sky Herald

To prepare myself for this VPPR role, I took 2 months to learn all about producing a Newsletter. About layout, typography, about white space, the grids, the margins, the rules.........

And then I couldn't handle the software.

This is the first time in the history of ( Sky Media TMC ) that the Newsletter was late .... till it was never in print.

On the positive side, we are helping the environment by saving a few trees.

Doing the same thing differently....

The EXCO decided to change the strategy. The hard copy can reach only as many as we can have it in print. We'll post all our articles at our site to reach a wider audience.

Now we set another direction to make up for lost time. The objective of this web:

Not just limited to Toa Payoh .....

But then again, we are not restricting ourselves to toapayoh. When we were with Sky Media (UE Square, Anson Road, Newton Road), members came to us because they were working in the Central Business District. We have members from Pasir Ris to Jurong East. from Bishan to Woodland.

Not forgetting 2 foreign members from Japan and The Philippines

And this club, I am very proud to tell you, has a unique culture, a "little something" that cannot be described in words, that's not present in any other clubs .... Come and feel it for yourself.

What I see may not be what you'll get .....

Little did I realised that while this site looks good on my 14 inch screen, it looks bare on a 17 inch. Some of you may even own a larger monitor.

And for those who are using Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, text-based browsers and operating on different platforms, you may get unexpected results.

However good or bad this site may appears, they're only WORDS and GRAPHICS; lines and lines of codes, text and images.

No matter how technology advances, this district and this club are still at the INFANT's stage. Join us today and let's grow together

So if your browser doesn't permit you to read those bells and whistles, just try to read these few lines:

  • If you were brought by a hyperlink, by accident, by chance, by mails, by words of mouth or mouse, by search engines ....
  • If you are looking for a place to develop product presentation techniques, to improve your communication and public speaking skill and to build you leadership qualities, without paying for a course fee.
  • This is the place where you learn and improve by making mistakes ... big mistakes that won't affect you business, your promotion and your career.

We invite you to come visit our club.
Come and evaluate our club and see for yourself if this is the right club for you
Just give us a call, send us a SMS or an email.
